Kenefick Ranch, Calistoga, California

Kenefick_PlacardKenefick Ranch consists of 125 acres of mostly red Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc are grown for white wine. Petite Sirah and Syrah complete the portfolio. Ten percent of production is used in Kenefick Ranch wines while the rest of the fruit is sourced out to Caymus, Nickle & Nickle, Eisele Vineyards, Cade-Plumpjack, B Cellars, Elizabeth Spencer and a few other small producers.

Kenefick Ranch Vineyards is owned by retired San Francisco neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas P. Kenefick and his two children, Caitlin and Chris Kenefick. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, he is a product of the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Mayo Clinic, and in 1969 he ventured west and joined San Francisco Neurosurgical Medical Group. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Kenefick fell in love with the Napa wine country and it’s products and began cultivating his new passion for wine growing and wine making. In 2006, Kent Jarman left Duckhorn to join Robbie Meyer in making Kenefick Ranch wines and one year later became the sole winemaker. His obsession with consistency and quality produces outstanding wines.
